The term “Gunpla” is a contraction of “Gundam plastic model.” It refers to plastic model kits depicting the giant robots (mechas or Mobile Suits), vehicles, and characters from the Japanese science fiction franchise Gundam. The models are classified by grade, which refers to the categories created by Bandai to classify its Gundam models based on scale, number of parts, complexity, and level of detail.
